Confidence in God’s Faithful Honesty

There is something oddly comforting about the uncertainties and unsettling situation in America.  God’s faithful (sometimes brutal) honesty is proving to be right, AGAIN.  God teaches us over and over in scripture not to put our trust in man or in money.  We would be wise to listen to the advice of God.  We  find comfort in the fact that God is right and he nailed the root of our current problem, thousands of years ago.  God is eternal, being in the past, the present and the future.  If we believe God knows the future than certainly we can take refuge in Him during these times; for only He knows what is next. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”  We have confidence during these tough times because of God’s faithful (sometimes brutal) honesty and His accuracy.  God knows what is next and we are told to simply trust in Him.

The Bible is full of wisdom on these matters but here are just a few examples especially, Psalm 146:

Proverbs 23:4-5 Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich.  Be wise enough to know when to quit.  In the blink of an eye wealth disappears for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.

Psalm 118:8-9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.  It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

Jesus said it himself, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”  Matthew 6:19

Psalm 146

Put not your trust in princes,

in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
When his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
    who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets the prisoners free;
    the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Enough said.  Thank you God.
